Introducing Jade.

Counsellor

BA (Psych)., Dip Ed (Primary)., Dip Couns.

The most important thing about therapy in my view, is the therapeutic relationship we have. So let me introduce myself.

I love to learn! I completed my Bachelor Degree with majors in Psychology and Sociology in 2003 and am currently undertaking my Masters in Counselling.

My vision to become a Counsellor began when I was very young. I always had a drive to understand and help people, and to understand the impact of life stressors and how to move through these challenges.  Over the years I gained valuable experience in a range of roles including employment services, youth work, education and mental health.

For the past 7 years, I have been in a Clinical Leadership role within a Family Mental Health Support Service, providing counselling, case management and supervision to vulnerable children and their families. As part of this role, I support my clients through outreach at their homes,  at schools and worked collaboratively with other healthcare provided to ensure holistic care.

I am particularly passionate about early intervention, ensuring children get the best possible start to life. I  am strongly influenced by attachment theory, love pedagogy and well versed in parenting and childhood development. This is what led me to complete my Diploma in Primary Education in 2010 and after many years counselling in the community services sector, I completed a Certificate in Initiatic Art Therapy and a Diploma of Counselling.

I am a registered  Counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association. I am a registered Teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and am also a member of the Australian Child Life Therapy Association.

So here I am, passionate, educated, experienced and ready to learn with you and support you on your journey.

Introducing Louisa.

Counsellor and Systemic Family Therapist

BA.Couns, MAFST

I began my career in counselling following the completion of my Bachelor’s Degree in Counselling in 2018. Following this, I made the decision to follow my passion of working with families, and gained my
Master’s Degree in Family and Systemic Therapy, completed in October 2023.

There are a lot of aspects of family work that I am especially endeared to, some of those being the opportunity to view and hold a family system at its most vulnerable point, the rich stories that are evoked through exploration of the family, and the idiosyncrasies of each family system that make each session a wonderful opportunity to learn.

My background has been largely based in the AOD (alcohol and other drugs) space, working with both individuals and families. Currently I am working in AOD with parents involved with child protection, supporting them to achieve their identified goals.

Themes that I am interested in and aim to bring into client sessions, are the exploration of otherness, ideas of giving to the parent what you would have them give to the child,  and striving to understand the underpinnings of behaviour. I work systemically with the client or their family in a generative and enlightening manner that allows a clear insight into the nature of the issue and the experience of everyone involved.

Currently, I will be able to provide appointments on Fridays only, with a view to eventually expand to additional days. I am able to support individual, couple, and family referrals for both AOD specific as well
as other identified issues. If you are considering the leap into counselling support that can at times feel quite daunting, please
reach out to me directly with any questions (there are no silly ones). It can also be helpful to have a chat before making the decision to attend a first appointment.
